Don’t Get Bored With Peace
9 May – 30 May 2026
Opening reception: Saturday 9 May, 12:00–14:00
Galleri Oxholm is pleased to present Don’t Get Bored With Peace, a solo exhibition of new works by Copenhagen-based artist Niels Corfitzen.
Corfitzen’s paintings emerge not from a desire to explain, but from an ongoing inquiry into the nature of being. His works unfold in layered compositions where figures simultaneously take form and dissolve. Faces fragment, shift, and repeat, suggesting a state of continuous becoming—appearing and disappearing at once.
In this exhibition, Corfitzen continues his sustained engagement with the human figure, not as a fixed identity but as a fluid and evolving presence. Portrait and landscape converge: the figure becomes a terrain, while the surrounding space reflects an interior condition. Multiple visages often merge within a single form, and bodies inhabit environments that feel both tangible and indeterminate. This creates a subtle tension between recognition and dissolution, inviting the viewer to remain within an open, unresolved space.
Rather than offering conclusions, Corfitzen’s paintings function as points of entry. They propose a contemplative space in which meaning is not prescribed but gradually unfolds through sustained attention.
Over the years, Corfitzen’s practice has developed through deepening rather than rupture. His work reflects a continued return to the same visual and conceptual field, approached from shifting perspectives and with increasing nuance.
Born in 1980, Niels Corfitzen has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions with the gallery, both in Denmark and internationally. Don’t Get Bored With Peace builds on this ongoing collaboration, presenting a new body of compelling works for collectors and viewers alike.
